HISTORICAL EVENTS
|
We provide top-quality historical events specifically designed for your location, audience and budget. We can present any historical period or theme from the past 2000 years, using either 'first-person' costumed interpretation, or the 'third-person' Living History approach. 2009, being the 500th anniversary of the coronation of King Henry VIII, saw a frantic interest in re-creating the life and spirit of the Tudor era, and so we had a number of 16th century-themed events at various sites. This year sees the Black Knight team celebrating Fox Talbot’s pioneering photographic work at Lacock Abbey, paying tribute to the brave men and women of the Dunkirk rescue at Dover Castle, and working with numerous clients to celebrate these and other special occasions. Our events are best suited to historic properties, but can be easily adapted to other locations. We have successfully organised shows in schools, churchyards, modern museums, galleries, football pitches and even a costumed 14th century pilgrimage to Walsingham! A typical event usually lasts 1-3 days, which makes us an ideal provider of Bank Holiday entertainment. One of the best examples of our work is the Annual Mediæval Spectacular event which takes place at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve (Norfolk) over the August Bank Holiday weekend. If required, we can organise longer events lasting up to nine days (two weekends and five working days between them), depending on scenario and location. Many of our events are becoming annual attractions, being repeated by clients as they see fit. We also organise historical markets and fayres. Our flagship events are the Norfolk Living History Fayre, held each October at Mannington Hall in Norfolk, and the Historic Christmas Fayre [December] in the wondrous Cloister of Norwich Cathedral.
