HISTORICAL MARKETS AND FAYRES

As the year draws to a close, all thoughts turn to holidays and presents. And what is a better place to buy special gifts, made by hand with love and care, than a historic market? For enthusiasts of arts and crafts, admirers of fine workmanship and anyone in search of a perfect present, we offer two spectacular events which attract the most respectable traders from all over the country. And if you think that our markets are only for re-enactors, come and see for yourself: handmade glassware, jewellery and silverwork look just as stunning in a modern setting as they do in a historical display.

Traders selling historical goods, re-enactment societies, heritage organisations, museums and collectors are all welcome. Please contact us to find out more! If you would like to trade, download our booking form.

THE NORFOLK LIVING HISTORY FAYRE

Held annually in the grounds of Mannington Hall near Aylsham in North Norfolk, this is another event designed and managed by Black Knight Historical with the kind permission of Lord and Lady Walpole. And it is more than just a market for history enthusiasts and collectors - it is a great day out for the whole family, with Living History displays, music, singing and dancing. Covering several hundred years of the English history, the Fayre is one of the most versatile and colourful events on the local heritage scene.

On market days the Hall is also open to the public, with costumed interpreters recreating scenes from different periods in the life of the house: Tudor, Georgian and 1940s.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE AT NORWICH CATHEDRAL

It is our privilege to be the manager of the Historic Christmas Fayre, which takes place in the cloister of the Norwich Cathedral in December. We are particularly grateful to the Dean and Chapter for allowing this seasonal wonder to happen.

When we designed this event, we tried to capture the true spirit of Christmas festivities which once a year turn the world into a fairytale... Costumed traders selling their wares from colourful stalls; medieval minstrels wandering freely, entertaining one and all with tunes and carols; storytellers warming visitors' hearts with tales of our heroic past... Tuck into a scrumptious hog roast, sip mulled wine, and rub shoulders with historic characters through the ages!
