We are proud to present our educational session looking at life in Britain, in the Bronze Age, around 1300 BC.
Our Bronze Age characters arrive wearing the highest quality replica clothing of the era, with tools and weaponry, and miscellaneous objects .
Our presentation examines what bronze is, how it is made, where it came from, and what it can be used for.
We introduce the students to the concept of life in a roundhouse, with a central hearth, one door, and no windows!
Children get the chance to spin wool using a drop spindle, and to use a primitive weaving loom. They will understand about the clothing and materials available at the time, learning strange new things!
We discuss the origins of farming and the domestication of animals, the continued importance of hunting, and the use of flint, as well as bronze and copper tools.
Using artefacts and role play, we look at ancestor worship, burial practices, average life expectancy, trade and boats.
There will be dressing-up time (prepared in advance with your school) and photo time.
