ALLERDALE100
Allerdale 100 was a flagship project for us and combined almost everything we do, and do well, from initial concept and council tender process, via the ProActis portal, through to the final delivery, with a video as evidence and record for future generations.
The ‘Request for Quote’ : Allerdale Borough Council wishes to mark the centenary of the end of World War I with a commemoration in a prominent location in Workington and complementary commemorations in Aspatria, Cockermouth, Keswick, Maryport, Silloth and Wigton to complement the planned activity of local councils and other organisations. Artists are invited to submit their quotes for this commission.
Utilising our experience in many different disciplines; two and three dimensional art, light and sound, education, research, P.R, we tendered along with an artists impression of the 3-D installation to be constructed in the Carnegie Theatre, Workington, as agreed with the client.
The project entailed visits to the Allerdale region from Norfolk, researching and communciating with all the schools in the area, plus all the museums, and other interested Community Groups, to facilitate face to face meetings.
As the project was to be delivered in a short time frame, (June to November 2018), we started building the trench diorama in Norfolk for delivery and installation in the October. As Summer holidays took all the schools out for 6 weeks, we contacted them all in June offering free workshops on The First World War starting in September, with costumed experts visiting the schools as requested, and encouraging those schools to get involved – with artistic contributions and drama/music/poetry at the opening ceremony.
Visits to museums and war memorials followed, and discussions with Comunity Groups, to increase public awareness of the project.
KINGMAKER at WARWICK CASTLE
This was our first consultancy contract way back in 1993 for Madame Tussauds who owned the castle back then, before it was bought by Merlin.
I provided much of the arms and armour in the exhibition, plus barrels, horse harness and horse armour, much of which is still going strong today, although it is in dire need of a good polish! Some has sadly been stolen over the years.
