Black Knight Historical makes learning fun!

With 25 years’ experience, we deliver the best school workshops and classroom learning, by taking children on an exciting journey of education & discovery. 

We don’t deliver from a set script, like many other providers, we have thousands of hours practical session delivery, ranging from top end Private Schools through to SEND, tailored programmes which work to bring out each child’s potential for discovery-based learning, using 30 years of research and practical ‘Living History’experience.

We cover all key stages of the National Curriculum (early years to A level) in full-day workshops, usually with two presenters, one male and one female – knowledgeable costumed characters who will bring history alive in the classroom. We bring in extra characters for larger year groups as requested.

With our best school workshops, your pupils won’t just learn about History but also topics that bring in Mathematics, English, Geography, Music, Dance, Art, Religion and Science.

Dressing up in costume is encouraged for the students which helps to make the study day even more special.  Our best school workshops and educational activities will be remembered by children for years to come!

Our best school workshops cover historical periods from the Stone Age to World War 2, plus a selection of other related topics across history – but if you don’t see what you want, just ask! 

New is a History/Science mash-up on Artillery [from Cavemen to Cannons] which involves lots of measuring and quantifying results, including a trebuchet!

We have all the necessary paperwork to support our educational sessions, including:

• Risk Assessments
• Model release forms. 
• Gunpowder/Historic Firearms licences

A dedicated PowerPoint presentation can accompany our best school workshops to reinforce the sessions, with photos, video, spelling, cartoons and weblinks. We also give a dedicated worksheet for each session [when required]  for students to complete. These are available for you to keep after the session’s end.

Options

Our best school workshops start when we surprise all the students by arriving in character in class or at assembly, and outline the plans for rest of the day. We ask that the classroom [or Hall] is left empty for us to set up our displays so the workshop is a surprise for the children.

Best school workshops can involve more than one costumed educator, as you wish and as budgets allow – up to eight in a day is possible for larger schools, so students benefit from a carousel of activities on a variety of topics.

We have nationwide coverage to enable us to deliver our best school workshops across the country, wherever your school is located. From Suffolk to Anglesey, Isle of Wight to Scotland, we make history happen!

Special days offered for ‘Gifted & Talented sessions, WOW days – call  them what you will, we have so many options available, and with our experience and knowledge, you can rest easy in knowing that your students are in excellent hands.

Here at Black Knight Historical we believe in equality for all, including education. With that in mind we are proud to offer fully inclusive teaching sessions for groups or if required, one to one., taking  into account all needs and to accommodate each and every child. 

We have qualified tutors for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in our team and can provide adjusted sessions to support ASD, ADHD, SPD and SEMH. Thus we provide hands-on learning for even the most tactile children and do our best to answer every question from the chatty child. 

All invisible illnesses and disabilities are carefully handled within your setting and within our own team, with school staff assistance of course.

We pride ourselves in providing, visual, kinesthetic learning environments across the centuries and love to have helpers and volunteers join in.
